Eddie Cahill’s character, Don Flack, has always been on hand to provide a barbed quip or an intense grilling, but in CSI: New York’s fifth season, the brash homicide detective has moved into the spotlight. In the fifth season opener, “Veritas”, audiences were introduced to Flack’s younger sister, Samantha (Kathleen Munroe), and the siblings’ contentious relationship when her name popped up during the course of an investigation. But it hasn’t been all work and no play for the good detective–he also started a relationship with colleague Jessica Angell (Emmanuelle Vaugier). Cahill spoke with CSI Files’ Kristine Huntley about the attention his character has gotten this season, the new relationships that have opened up for him and the hot spot Flack found himself in after a suspect died in his custody.
BuddyTV – On November 1, the production of CSI: New York gathered at Los Angeles’ Edison club to celebrate the series’ 100th episode. In fact, Gary Sinise, Melina Kanakaredes, Eddie Cahill, Carmine Giovinazzo and Anna Belknap were all on hand to celebrate the milestone, which fans will get to see on November 19, when it airs on CBS.
“We’ve been on the air for a long time, and people still like us,” producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Entertainment Tonight. “That’s a good thing.”
“A hundred episodes is a milestone in any television series,” Gary Sinise, who first appeared on television with CSI: New York, said. “So I’m glad we made it here. We’re looking forward to a hundred more.”
Kanakaredes, who plays Stella Bonasera on the series, applauds the writers and the production crew who have worked hard to make the show the success it is today. She said, “We’re just so happy to have an amazing group of people to work with every day and it’s still fun to go to work. I’m so excited that people love the show.”
In fact, Kanakaredes told OK! Magazine that one of her favorite episodes include the one in which her character “shot her boyfriend. It was tense and memorable. I’ll never forget the fear and the intensity of the whole experience and I don’t think she’s quite gotten over that yet, either…she hasn’t had a real relationship since.”
She also credits New York City for being a good backdrop in which they tell their stories. She explained, “I also like to think that New York is our biggest star. It’s an incredible city, and we’re so fortunate to be able to pull from so much.”
The 100th episode will also feature quite a number of guest stars including American Idol alum Chris Daughtry, rapper Nelly and NFL legend Marshall Faulk.
